The Hill and Water Hangzhou Hotel project was supposed to be an expansion of an existing hotel and loisir area. Besides being an expansion the new buildings were supposed to act as an advertising board to the already-built project behind. This specific proposal tried to attract attention to itself while still being connected to the site behind it in such a way that it could exist on its own.

A compact and continuous shape was preferred in order to keep the concept together and mimic the mountains around. Thus, the main road next to it was presented with a comprehensible image. The hotel+residence is to be located on top of a commercial slab, thus ensuring both privacy and a degree of sound dissipation. The commercial slab will create a street-friendly and permeable environment, while the courtyards will act as a transition space between the private and the public – alveolar rest spaces connected to the main road.
