The Water ripple villa or Moon Island villa is part of a private developement on Moon Island in Dandong, on the border with North Korea and is supposed to be a luxury residence. It is located on the southern tip of the island in order to get as much sunlight as possible and, of course, to enjoy the river view.
The owner of the villa, being an artist (painter) there were requests for a studio and exhibition spaces, as well as a swimming pool, public and private living areas, guest rooms, children apartments, maid room and entertainment and wine room in the cellar.
The simple streamline facade is designed not to compete with the surrounding landscape, so the main effort has been placed in creating an interesting interior and the relationship with the exterior and the river.
So, the main hallway cuts the house in two: a public and a private area. The public area houses the public living room, swimming pool, dining room, kitchen, depositing and maid room on the ground floor, with additional guest rooms and studio at the piano nobile.
The private part houses the private living room, children’s appartments and garage on the ground floor and main bedroom, main bathroom and dressing on the piano nobile.
The concept for the main plan shape has risen from the border area where it is located, considered as a convergence point of two cultures, nations, interior and exterior of a country, as the water ripples intersect from two different water events.
